Vaskkatte

Vaskkatte is a term of Finnish origin that literally translates to "washing cat." It refers to a domestic cat that exhibits an unusually strong or persistent habit of grooming itself, often to the point where it appears to be excessively clean. This behavior is not a recognized medical condition but rather a descriptive term for a specific feline personality trait.

Cats are naturally fastidious creatures, spending a significant portion of their waking hours grooming. This natural behavior helps them maintain hygiene, distribute natural oils, and remove loose fur. However, in some individuals, this grooming instinct can be amplified. A "vaskkatte" might groom for extended periods, even when not visibly dirty. They may also groom other cats in their household or even their human companions.
