VAZ2101

The VAZ-2101, commonly known as the Lada 1200 or simply Lada, is a Soviet and Russian passenger car manufactured by AvtoVAZ. It was the first model produced by the company, with production starting in 1970. The VAZ-2101 was based on the Fiat 124, a successful Italian car of the 1960s, and was significantly adapted to Soviet conditions, including a reinforced body, suspension, and increased ground clearance.

The VAZ-2101 was a rear-wheel-drive sedan that became immensely popular in the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc countries due to its affordability, durability, and relative ease of repair. It was equipped with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine. Over its production run, which ended in 2003, the VAZ-2101 served as the basis for numerous variants and derivatives, including station wagons and more powerful engine versions, collectively forming the "Zhiguli" (Zhiguli) family of cars. Its long production history and widespread use made it an iconic vehicle in Soviet and post-Soviet automotive culture, often seen as a workhorse and a symbol of personal mobility for many.
