Urduinfluenced

Urduinfluenced is an adjectival term used in linguistic and cultural contexts to describe elements that have been shaped, borrowed, or otherwise affected by the Urdu language. It can refer to lexical items borrowed from Urdu into other languages, calques that translate Urdu expressions, phonological patterns, or stylistic features associated with Urdu-speaking communities. The term is not a standard label in all dictionaries, but it appears in scholarly discussions of language contact and sociolinguistics to characterize areas of Urdu influence.

Geographically, Urduinfluenced elements are most commonly discussed in relation to Hindustani languages (Hindi-Urdu), within Pakistan and northern India, and among diaspora communities in the Middle East, Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. It also appears in analyses of multilingual urban speech, literature, media, and popular culture where Urdu forms, genres such as ghazal or nazm, or Urdu-based idioms are used alongside other languages.
