Uitsette

Uitsette is a town and municipality in the fictional country of Veridia, located on the Veridian coast at the mouth of the Lumen River. The municipality covers about 33 square kilometers and had an estimated population of 11,000 in 2022. It serves as the administrative center of the Uitsette district and functions as a local market town for the surrounding rural area. The town’s landscape mixes harbor zones with residential districts and green spaces, and its climate is temperate and maritime.

The settlement originated in the 12th century as a fishing hamlet and developed into a trading port during the Middle Ages. It gained rail access in the late 19th century, which spurred industrial and commercial growth. In the 20th century, Uitsette expanded its port facilities and diversified into manufacturing and services.

Economy and infrastructure: The economy centers on port activities, logistics, small manufacturing, and services. The harbor handles bulk goods, timber, and agricultural products. Transportation includes a municipal harbour, a regional railway line, and an extensive bus network. The town hosts a weekly market and a maritime festival in July.

Education and culture: Uitsette has a primary school network and a secondary school. Cultural heritage sites include the Old Town with timber-framed houses and St. Mary’s Church. The Uitsette Festival and the Maritime Heritage Days attract visitors each year.
