Udgivelsesmodeller refer to the various strategies and frameworks employed by organizations to release new products, services, or software updates to their customers. These models dictate the frequency, scope, and methods of delivery, aiming to balance innovation with stability and user experience.

One common approach is the Waterfall model, where development progresses sequentially through distinct phases, culminating in a single, large release. This model offers predictability but can lead to longer development cycles and delayed feedback.

In contrast, Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, promote iterative and incremental releases. Smaller, more frequent updates allow for continuous feedback incorporation and quicker adaptation to market changes. This often results in a faster time-to-market for new features and bug fixes.

Another prevalent model is Continuous Delivery (CD) or Continuous Deployment (CDP). CD automates the release process, ensuring that code changes can be deployed to production reliably and at any time. Continuous Deployment takes this a step further by automatically deploying every change that passes all tests. This enables a very rapid release cycle, often referred to as "frequent releases."

Hybrid models also exist, combining elements of different approaches to suit specific organizational needs.
