UNINSTALLED

Uninstalled is the state of software or features that have been removed from a computing device. As the past participle of uninstall, it is used to describe software that is no longer present or executable on a system, in contrast to the installed state.

Uninstalling typically removes program files, shortcuts, and configurations. Depending on the platform, uninstallers may also reverse changes made during installation, such as registry entries on Windows or symbolic links on Unix-like systems. Some systems use package managers that track installed packages and their dependencies, while others rely on manual file deletion or vendor-provided uninstall tools.

Residual data is a common issue after an uninstallation. Users may find leftover configuration files, user data, or registry keys that persist, which can take up disk space or affect software behavior if reinstalled. A so-called clean uninstall attempts to minimize leftovers by removing both core components and related data.

In software repositories and operating systems, uninstalled software may be described as not installed or removed; some package managers provide states such as installed, removed, or purged. The exact terminology varies by system, and in everyday language 'uninstalled' is often used interchangeably with 'not installed' or 'removed.'
