Tüsszögés

Tüsszögés, also known as sneezing, is an involuntary expulsion of air from the lungs through the nose and mouth. It is a reflex action that helps to clear irritants from the nasal passages. The sneeze reflex is triggered when the mucous membranes in the nose are stimulated. This stimulation can be caused by a variety of factors, including dust, pollen, animal dander, or viral infections like the common cold.

The physiological process of sneezing involves a deep inhalation followed by a forceful exhalation. During the exhalation, the soft palate and uvula are depressed, while the tongue is raised against the roof of the mouth. This action creates a high-velocity stream of air, which carries mucus and any trapped irritants out of the nasal cavity. The sound of a sneeze is produced by the vibration of the vocal cords as the air passes through them.

Sneezing is a common and generally harmless bodily function. However, it can be a symptom of underlying medical conditions such as allergies, sinusitis, or influenza. In some cases, frequent or excessive sneezing may warrant medical attention. It is important to note that sneezing can also be a social cue, and people often say "bless you" or a similar phrase after someone sneezes as a customary response.
