Túlreagálás

Túlreagálás is a Hungarian term that translates to overreaction in English. It describes an emotional or behavioral response that is disproportionate to the situation or stimulus. This can manifest as heightened anger, anxiety, sadness, or excitement that seems excessive to observers or even to the individual later reflecting on their behavior.

The causes of overreaction can be varied. They may stem from individual personality traits, such as a tendency towards impulsivity or sensitivity. Past experiences and trauma can also play a significant role, leading individuals to perceive present situations through the lens of past negative events. Stress and fatigue can lower an individual's threshold for emotional regulation, making them more prone to overreacting.
