Tájolást

Tájolást, also known as orienteering, is a competitive navigation sport that involves participants using a map and compass to find a series of checkpoints, or "controls," in unfamiliar terrain. The objective is to complete the course in the shortest possible time, visiting the controls in the correct order. Tájolást events are typically held in forests, parks, or other natural environments, though urban tájolást also exists.

The sport requires a blend of physical fitness and mental acuity. Competitors must be able to run or hike over varying distances and terrains while simultaneously interpreting the map and making strategic decisions about the best routes between controls. The map used in tájolást is highly detailed, showing features such as contour lines, vegetation types, water bodies, and man-made structures. The compass is used to determine direction and maintain a bearing.

There are various formats of tájolást, including sprint tájolást, middle-distance tájolást, long-distance tájolást, and relay tájolást. Each format has different course lengths and complexities, catering to different skill levels and preferences. Tájolást is accessible to people of all ages and abilities, with specific categories for juniors, seniors, and those with disabilities. It is a popular activity in many countries and is governed internationally by the International Orienteering Federation (IOF).
