Typarneus

Typarneus is a genus of small, nocturnal mammals belonging to the order Rodentia, commonly known as gerbils. These rodents are native to arid and semi-arid regions of Africa and Asia, with several species found in the deserts and steppes. Typarneus are characterized by their long tails, which are often tufted at the end, and their large eyes adapted for low-light conditions. Their fur typically ranges in color from sandy brown to grey, providing camouflage against their desert environment.
