Tussenverpakking

Tussenverpakking, often translated as intermediate packaging or secondary packaging, refers to any packaging that encloses one or more primary packages. Primary packaging is the material that directly contacts the product, such as a bottle, a bag, or a can. Tussenverpakking serves various functions, including providing additional protection during transit and storage, facilitating handling and stacking, and offering a surface for branding and product information.

Common examples of tussenverpakking include cardboard boxes, shrink wrap, trays, and multipacks. For instance, a multipack of soda cans, where several cans are bundled together with plastic wrap or placed in a cardboard carrier, represents tussenverpakking. Similarly, a retail box containing multiple individual cosmetic jars is also considered tussenverpakking.

The design and material of tussenverpakking are chosen based on factors such as the fragility of the primary packages, the intended distribution channel, and cost considerations. It plays a crucial role in the supply chain, ensuring that products arrive at their destination in good condition and are presented effectively to consumers.
