Turkutta
Turkutta is a genus of extinct birds that lived during the Paleocene epoch. Fossil evidence suggests these birds were part of the early avian radiation following the Cretaceous-Paleogene extinction event. The most notable species, Turkutta prima, was discovered in the Nemegt Formation of Mongolia. Its remains indicate a medium-sized bird, possibly with adaptations for both terrestrial and arboreal lifestyles. The genus name "Turkutta" is derived from Mongolian words, reflecting its discovery location.
The fossils of Turkutta are relatively scarce, making detailed studies of its anatomy and behavior challenging.
