Trumny

Trumny is the Polish plural form of trumna, meaning coffin or casket. In Polish usage, trumny refer to a container designed to encase a deceased person for burial or entombment. Coffins are part of standard funerary practice in Poland and among Polish communities worldwide.

Construction and materials: Wooden coffins are most common, with pine, oak, beech or birch often used for exterior panels. Less expensive options include particleboard, fiberboard or plywood, while metal coffins also exist for some services. Interiors are lined with fabric, padding or velvet. Coffins typically feature handles and a lid, and are designed to be transported by pallbearers. Standard sizes for adults generally range around 180 to 210 cm in length and 50 to 70 cm in width, though exact dimensions vary by maker and local custom.
