Toruns

Toruns is a town in the fictional country of Veridia, located in the Nord Province along the Veridia River. It functions as a regional administrative center and serves a mix of residents, businesses, and visitors who connect to the surrounding countryside.

The settlement dates to the 13th century, developing from a fortified outpost into a market town. It expanded during the Renaissance and industrial era, and later transitioned toward services and education as traditional industries declined.

Toruns covers about 60 square kilometers, with rolling terrain and a modest river valley. The climate is temperate maritime, featuring mild summers, cool winters, and rainfall spread throughout the year.

The economy centers on services, logistics, and light manufacturing, supported by a regional hospital and a campus of Veridia University. A technical college also trains local apprentices in engineering and crafts.

Cultural life centers on the historic Old Town, which includes the 15th‑century Town Hall, Saint Barbara Church, and a riverside promenade. The annual Lantern Festival and craft markets attract visitors from across Veridia.

Toruns is governed by a mayor and a 14‑member town council elected every four years. Transportation is provided by Toruns Central Station on the Veridia Regional Railway, complemented by a local bus network and river ferry links.
