Tomica

Tomica is a brand of die-cast toy cars produced by the Japanese company Tomy, which later became part of Takara Tomy. The line debuted in 1970 and quickly became one of the best-known toy car ranges in Japan and internationally. Tomica models are typically produced at roughly 1:64 scale and designed to resemble real vehicles, including sedans, taxis, police cars, buses, and trucks. The range is known for being affordable while offering a reasonable level of detail, with new models released regularly to reflect current and historical cars.

In addition to the standard line, Tomica expanded with the Tomica Limited Vintage (TLV) series, which offers highly detailed reproductions of vintage Japanese cars for collectors, usually in the same 1:64 scale. Other premium editions and licenses have appeared under the Tomica umbrella, catering to hobbyists and collectors.

Takara Tomy, the successor to Tomy, has continued to market Tomica worldwide through toy retailers, hobby shops, and online channels. Licensing arrangements have enabled Tomica to reproduce a wide range of real cars, and occasional limited-run releases and collaborations have accompanied these efforts. The brand remains popular with children for everyday play and with adult collectors for display and collection, contributing to its enduring presence in the global toy car market.
