ThrGluTyr

ThrGluTyr, commonly referred to by the shorthand TEY motif, is the tripeptide sequence consisting of threonine (Thr), glutamate (Glu), and tyrosine (Tyr). It is best known as the activation loop motif of many MAP kinases, notably ERK1 and ERK2 in humans.

In these kinases, TEY is the phosphorylation site targeted by the upstream dual-specificity kinase MEK1/2. Dual phosphorylation on the threonine and tyrosine residues within TEY induces a conformational change that fully activates the kinase, enabling phosphorylation of downstream substrates.
