Theodoric
Theodoric, commonly known as Theodoric the Great, was a king of the Ostrogoths and ruler of Italy in the late 5th and early 6th centuries. He belonged to the Amal dynasty and reigned the Ostrogothic Kingdom from about 493 to 526. Born around 454, he was raised in the Eastern Roman world and educated in Constantinople, experiences that shaped his administrative approach. At the invitation of Emperor Zeno, he led the Ostrogoths into Italy, defeating Odoacer and assuming control in 493.
