Tatenokai was a Japanese far-right nationalist organization founded in 1968 by Yukio Mishima and his close associate Masakatsu Uchimura. The name Tatenokai translates to "Shield Society" or "Sword Society." The group's stated goals were to revive Japan's traditional samurai spirit, promote nationalism, and restore the Emperor to a position of true political power, free from the constraints of the post-war constitution.
