Tastaturports

Tastaturports are physical connectors found on computers and other electronic devices that are used to attach a keyboard. Historically, several types of tastaturports have been prevalent. The most common in older systems was the DIN connector, a round, multi-pin connector. Another early standard was the AT connector, which was also a round connector but with a different pin configuration.

In more recent decades, the PS/2 connector became dominant. This is a small, round connector with six pins, typically color-coded for easy identification of the keyboard and mouse ports. The PS/2 standard offered improved performance over its predecessors.

The advent and widespread adoption of USB (Universal Serial Bus) technology have largely replaced dedicated tastaturports. USB ports are versatile and can be used for a wide range of peripherals, including keyboards, mice, printers, and storage devices. Most modern keyboards connect via USB, offering plug-and-play functionality and often hot-swappable capabilities. While dedicated tastaturports are less common on new consumer hardware, they may still be found on some specialized equipment or older computers. The transition to USB has simplified connectivity and reduced the number of different port types required on a computer.
