Etymology and origin stories place tappionsa in the fictional Nerean language corpus, with suggested roots meaning “to weave” and “memory.” In these traditions, tappionsa denotes the act of weaving together personal, familial, and historical recollections into a tangible or performative artifact, thereby creating a shared sense of identity.

Description and practice involve a nocturnal gathering during which participants engage in memory-work through narrative recitation, song, and the creation of a memory tapestry. A loom or improvised weaving frame is used, with colored threads representing different classes of memory (such as kinship, community events, or significant myths).
