TannaMota

TannaMota, also spelled Tannamota, is a village situated in the Anantapur district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The village falls under the administrative jurisdiction of the Guntakal revenue division and is part of the Guntakal mandal. It lies approximately 10 kilometres north of the town of Guntakal and is connected to the surrounding areas by a network of rural roads that link to the National Highway 7.

The settlement has a predominantly agrarian economy, with most residents engaged in farming activities that largely depend on the region's monsoon cycle. Primary crops include millet, groundnut, and maize, supplemented by livestock rearing. In recent years, there has been a gradual shift toward the cultivation of cash crops such as cotton and soybean, reflecting a broader trend in the district. Small-scale handloom weaving and pottery also contribute to the local economy, although these crafts are practiced mainly by a minority of households.

According to the 2011 Census of India, TannaMota had a population of just under 2,500 residents. The demographic profile is fairly youthful, with a substantial proportion of children below the age of ten. The literacy rate in the village is lower than the national average, with a noticeable gender gap favouring males. Educational infrastructure includes a primary school that serves the local population, while secondary and higher education facilities are typically accessed in nearby urban centres such as Guntakal and Anantapur.

Culturally, the village observes several traditional festivals that mirror those celebrated across Andhra Pradesh. The annual Jatara at the village temple, dedicated to the goddess Kannakshi, draws participants from neighbouring villages and is marked by devotional music, processions, and communal feasts. Folk art, especially the local style of shadow puppetry known as thula paitha, occasionally features in celebratory gatherings, reflecting the community's reliance on oral traditions for cultural transmission.
