Talpfekélyek, often referred to as foot ulcers, are open sores that typically develop on the soles of the feet. They are a common complication, particularly for individuals with diabetes, though other conditions can also contribute to their formation. The reduced sensation and poor circulation associated with certain illnesses can lead to unnoticed injuries that develop into ulcers.

The development of talpfekélyek is often gradual. Minor cuts, blisters, or pressure points on the foot may not be felt due to nerve damage. If these injuries are not treated or are subjected to repeated pressure, the skin can break down, forming an ulcer.
