Taalo

Taalo is a traditional board game originating from Somalia and parts of the Horn of Africa. It is a strategy game played by two people, typically using a board with a grid of 5x5 squares, though variations exist. The objective of Taalo is to capture all of the opponent's pieces, or to maneuver one's own pieces into a position where the opponent has no legal moves.

The game is played with stones or seeds, with each player starting with a certain number of pieces, usually 12 or 16. Players take turns moving their pieces one square at a time, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, depending on the specific rules of the variation being played. Captures are made by jumping over an opponent's piece, similar to checkers.

Taalo is known for its strategic depth and requires foresight and tactical thinking. It is often played by elders and children alike, serving as a form of social interaction and mental exercise.
