Többkötetes

It indicates that the complete work is distributed across two or more bound volumes rather than being contained in a single book. The term is commonly applied to encyclopedias, dictionaries, histories, and literary series, as well as to editions that compile related texts or pieces over multiple parts.

Etymology and form: the word is built from töb-, meaning "many" or "more," combined with kötet, meaning "volume," and the attributive suffix -es. As an adjective, töbkötetes agrees with the noun it modifies, for example: egy többkötetes mű (a multi-volume work), többkötetes kiadás (a multi-volume edition), többkötetes művek (multi-volume works).

Usage: in library catalogs, publishing descriptions, and bibliographies, töbkötetes signals that the item comprises several physically separate volumes, often with individual titles or contents per volume. It is commonly contrasted with single-volume works or omnibus editions that gather multiple works into one volume.
