Sügavtõmbamine

Sügavtõmbamine, known in English as deep drawing, is a manufacturing process used to shape sheet metal into a hollow or cup-shaped object. This is achieved by forcing a workpiece into a die cavity by a punch. The process typically involves a die, a punch, and a blank holder. The blank holder applies pressure to the perimeter of the sheet metal blank to prevent wrinkling during the drawing operation.

The workpiece, usually a flat circular or rectangular sheet of metal, is placed over the die cavity. The punch then moves downwards, pushing the metal into the die. As the punch descends, the metal flows from the flange area into the die cavity, gradually forming the desired shape. The depth and complexity of the drawn part depend on factors such as the material properties, the tooling design, and the drawing ratio.

Deep drawing is a versatile process capable of producing a wide range of products, including kitchen sinks, cookware, automotive body parts, ammunition casings, and beverage cans. It is known for its ability to create parts with thin walls and complex geometries while maintaining good dimensional accuracy. The success of deep drawing relies on careful selection of materials, appropriate lubrication, and precise control of process parameters to avoid defects like tearing, wrinkling, or excessive thinning. Common materials for deep drawing include steel, aluminum, copper, and brass alloys.
