Furthermore, chemical preservatives, such as sorbates and benzoates, can be added to inhibit microbial growth or oxidation. Packaging technologies, like vacuum packing and modified atmosphere packaging, also play a crucial role in extending shelf life by controlling the atmosphere surrounding the product.
