Szerzdéselméletek, often translated as "theories of acquisition" or "learning theories," is a broad field within psychology and linguistics that investigates how individuals acquire knowledge and skills, particularly language. These theories attempt to explain the underlying mechanisms and processes involved in learning.

Behaviorist theories, prominent in the early to mid-20th century, emphasized the role of environmental factors. Proponents like B.F. Skinner suggested that language acquisition occurs through imitation, reinforcement, and conditioning. Children learn by associating sounds and words with objects and actions, and their attempts are rewarded, encouraging further learning.

Innate or nativist theories, most notably associated with Noam Chomsky, propose that humans are born with an innate capacity for language. Chomsky argued for a Universal Grammar, a set of underlying principles common to all languages, which guides children in acquiring their native tongue. This perspective suggests that learning is not solely dependent on environmental input.

Cognitivist theories focus on the mental processes involved in learning. These theories view language acquisition as a cognitive development process, similar to how children learn other concepts. Piaget's work, for instance, suggests that cognitive readiness precedes language development. Information-processing models, a subset of cognitivism, liken the mind to a computer, analyzing how information is received, processed, stored, and retrieved during learning.

Interactionist theories bridge the gap between behaviorist and nativist perspectives. They highlight the importance of social interaction and the role of the environment in facilitating innate predispositions. Vygotsky's sociocultural theory, for example, emphasizes the Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) and the role of caregivers in scaffolding language learning through social interaction.
