Suurla

Suurla is a village and former municipality in the Nordmark region of Nordhaven, a fictional Northern European country. It lies along the Lomar River, about 60 kilometers north of the regional capital. As of 2023, Suurla has a population of roughly 1,150 residents and covers a small rural area characterized by dairy farms and mixed forests.

History and name

The first written reference to Suurla dates to the 14th century, and it gradually developed as a farming community in the highlands. In 2010, it merged with neighboring communities to form a larger administrative unit, though the village retains its distinct identity and local traditions. The toponym Suurla is of uncertain origin; local folklore sometimes links it to a historic meadow, while linguistic historians note possible ties to early Nordmark dialects.

The landscape is gently rolling with fertile soils and stands of pine and spruce forest nearby. The Lomar River provides irrigation and historically supported small-scale fishing.
