Suurjännitekaapeli refers to a high-voltage electrical cable. These cables are essential components of power transmission and distribution systems, designed to carry electricity at voltages significantly higher than those used in typical household or industrial settings. The primary purpose of using high voltage is to reduce energy loss during transmission over long distances. By increasing the voltage, the current can be decreased for the same amount of power (Power = Voltage x Current). Lower current means less resistance loss in the conductors (Loss = Current^2 x Resistance).

They typically consist of a central conductor, usually made of copper or aluminum, surrounded by layers of insulation.
