Strigopoid
Strigopoid is a superfamily of parrots that includes three extant species, all endemic to New Zealand. These are the kakapo, the kea, and the kaka. This superfamily is unique among parrots for its terrestrial lifestyle and the presence of flightless species. The kakapo is the only nocturnal parrot in the world and is critically endangered. The kea is known for its intelligence and playful, inquisitive nature, often exhibiting problem-solving abilities. The kaka is a forest-dwelling parrot that forages on the ground and in trees.
These parrots are characterized by their robust build and strong legs, adaptations for their ground-dwelling habits.
