Stifteres

Stifteres are a type of horse breed originating from Germany. They are believed to have descended from the old Spanish and Arabian breeds, which were introduced to Europe in the 18th century. The Stifteres breed is known for its compact size and robust build, making it a popular choice for transportation and light farming work.

One of the distinctive characteristics of the Stifteres breed is its thick, wavy coat, which can vary in color from bay to gray and chestnut. They typically stand between 12 and 14 hands high and weigh between 700 and 900 pounds. Stifteres are known for their strong legs, which enable them to traverse challenging terrain with ease.

The breed is also renowned for its intelligence and friendly temperament. They are easy to train and make excellent companions for riders of all experience levels. Additionally, they are known for their milk production, making them a valuable asset for small-scale dairy farming operations.

Stifteres have become less common since World War II, due in part to the introduction of more efficient tractor technology, which has reduced the need for draft horses in farming. As a result, conservation efforts are underway to preserve the breed. Stifteres are recognized by the German Association of Horse Breeders and are listed as a rare and endangered breed by the International Society for the Conservation of Rare and Endangered Horse Breeds.
