Sthanakavasi
Sthanakavasi is a prominent sect of Jainism. The name Sthanakavasi literally translates to "one who resides in a place" or "one who dwells in a building." This distinguishes them from the Digambara sect, whose monks traditionally practice nudity and are ascetics, and the Svetambara sect, who wear white garments. Sthanakavasi monks and nuns wear white garments and do not accept anything from their disciples or followers in their hands, and they will take food in a vessel. They generally do not have a fixed abode and move from place to place, often staying in rented houses or temporary shelters.
The Sthanakavasi tradition emphasizes asceticism, meditation, and adherence to the teachings of Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara.
