The group operated as a diversified industrial company with activities spanning automotive production, motorcycles and bicycles, metalworking, and defense-related equipment.

In the postwar era, Steyr-Daimler-Puch became best known for its automotive and 4x4 vehicle programs. It produced a range of passenger cars and light trucks under its umbrella and developed several iconic 4x4 light utility vehicles that found use in military and civilian markets. Notable vehicles associated with the group include the Haflinger, a small, rugged 4x4 designed for varied terrains, and the Pinzgauer, a higher-capacity 4x4 used for military and civilian roles.
