In computing and documentation, reStructuredText, often abbreviated as reST, is a lightweight markup language for plain text that is easy to read and write. It was developed as part of the Docutils project and designed by David Goodger in the early 2000s to facilitate lightweight, machine-parseable documentation.

ReStructuredText aims to be readable in its source form while allowing conversion to other formats such as HTML, LaTeX, or XML.
