Restructured

Restructured is the past participle of the verb restructure. It describes something that has been reorganized or redesigned, typically to improve efficiency, adapt to new requirements, or reflect a different organizational or structural arrangement.

In computing and documentation, reStructuredText, often abbreviated as reST, is a lightweight markup language for plain text that is easy to read and write. It was developed as part of the Docutils project and designed by David Goodger in the early 2000s to facilitate lightweight, machine-parseable documentation.

ReStructuredText aims to be readable in its source form while allowing conversion to other formats such as HTML, LaTeX, or XML. Its syntax covers sections and titles, lists, emphasis, literals, hyperlinks, footnotes, and citations, along with directives for complex content like images, tables, and custom roles.

The language is widely used in software documentation, notably in Python projects and the Sphinx documentation system, which uses reST as its primary markup language. Alternatives include Markdown and AsciiDoc, which serve similar purposes in different communities.
