Stabpuppen
Stabpuppen, or rod puppets, are a form of puppetry in which the figure is controlled primarily by rods rather than by strings from above or by the puppeteer’s hands inside the figure. The limbs and sometimes the head are mounted on rigid shafts that extend from the puppet, and a separate control rod or handle is used by the performer to manipulate the movement. This setup allows direct, deliberate motion of the arms and upper body, often resulting in a more immediate gesture than with string marionettes.
