It is a crucial parameter for calculating the amount of product needed and for ensuring uniform coverage of the target area. The sprøjtebredde is determined by the number and spacing of the spray nozzles on the boom of a sprayer. Each nozzle produces a spray pattern, and the overlap between these patterns dictates the overall effective width.

For example, if a sprayer has ten nozzles spaced 0.5 meters apart, and each nozzle effectively covers a width of 0.5 meters, the total potential width might seem to be 5 meters. However, to achieve uniform coverage and avoid gaps or overlaps, the spray patterns are designed to overlap. Therefore, the actual sprøjtebredde might be slightly less than the sum of individual nozzle widths, or it could be calculated based on the distance between the centers of the outer nozzles multiplied by a factor accounting for the overlap.
