Sphingobacteriaceae
Sphingobacteriaceae is a family of bacteria belonging to the phylum Bacteroidetes. These are Gram-negative, rod-shaped bacteria that are commonly found in various environments, including soil, freshwater, and marine ecosystems. Some species are also known to inhabit the guts of animals, including humans. The Sphingobacteriaceae are characterized by their ability to produce sphingolipids, complex lipids that are also found in eukaryotic cell membranes. This metabolic capability is a defining feature of the family.
Members of Sphingobacteriaceae exhibit a range of metabolic activities. Many are saprophytic, meaning they obtain nutrients
