Sodiaagimärk

Sodiaagimärk, often referred to as a zodiac sign, is one of the twelve divisions of the ecliptic, representing a specific section of the celestial sphere. These divisions are based on the apparent path of the Sun, Moon, and planets as they move across the sky throughout the year. Historically, ancient astrologers divided the ecliptic into twelve equal segments of 30 degrees each, associating each segment with a constellation that was prominent in that area.

The twelve zodiac signs, in order, are Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. Each sign is associated with a particular period of the year, determined by the Sun's position within that segment of the ecliptic. For example, people born between approximately March 21 and April 19 are said to be born under the sign of Aries.

The concept of zodiac signs is central to Western astrology, where it is believed that the position of celestial bodies at the time of a person's birth can influence their personality, characteristics, and future. Astrologers use zodiac signs, along with other astronomical factors like planetary positions and houses, to create birth charts and interpret an individual's life. While widely popular, astrology and the beliefs associated with zodiac signs are considered a pseudoscience by the scientific community, lacking empirical evidence to support its claims.
