A Small Form Factor (SFF) computer is a personal computer characterized by its compact physical size. These systems are designed to take up less space than traditional desktop towers, making them ideal for environments where space is limited or for users who prefer a minimalist aesthetic. SFF computers come in a wide variety of dimensions and designs, ranging from very small units that can be mounted behind a monitor (often referred to as All-in-One or Nettop configurations) to slightly larger, but still significantly smaller than standard, desktop replacements.

The primary advantage of an SFF computer is its reduced footprint. This makes them popular for home theaters, small offices, dorm rooms, or as secondary computers. Despite their size, many SFF systems offer performance comparable to their larger counterparts, capable of handling everyday tasks, media consumption, and even some gaming, depending on the specific components used.

However, the compact nature of SFF PCs can also present challenges. Thermal management can be more difficult due to less space for airflow and larger cooling solutions. Component selection is often restricted, with limitations on the size of graphics cards, the number of storage drives, and the overall power supply wattage. Upgradability can also be more constrained compared to standard ATX builds. Despite these considerations, SFF computers represent a significant segment of the PC market, catering to users who prioritize space-saving without significantly sacrificing performance or functionality.
