Skjermutveksling

Skjermutveksling, often translated as screen sharing or desktop sharing, is a technology that allows a user to display their computer screen on another computer's screen remotely. This capability is widely used for various purposes, including technical support, remote collaboration, presentations, and education.

The fundamental principle behind skjermutveksling involves capturing the visual output of one computer's display, encoding it, and then transmitting it over a network connection to another computer. The receiving computer then decodes this data and renders it as an image on its own screen. In many implementations, skjermutveksling also allows for remote control, enabling the viewer to interact with the shared screen as if they were physically operating the remote computer. This control can be granted entirely or with specific permissions.

Several protocols and software applications facilitate skjermutveksling. Common examples include the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) used by Microsoft Windows, Virtual Network Computing (VNC), and protocols used in modern video conferencing and collaboration tools. The efficiency and quality of the screen sharing experience depend on factors such as network bandwidth, the compression algorithms used, and the frame rate of the transmitted video. Security is also a crucial consideration, with many solutions employing encryption to protect the shared data from unauthorized access.
