Skaneerimisi, also known as scanning, is a process used to systematically examine a system, network, or application for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, or other security issues. This can be done manually or through automated tools. The primary goal of scanning is to identify potential security weaknesses that could be exploited by malicious actors. Scanning can be categorized into several types, including network scanning, vulnerability scanning, and web application scanning.

Network scanning involves probing a network to discover active devices, open ports, and running services. This type of scanning helps administrators understand the network's structure and identify potential entry points for attackers. Vulnerability scanning, on the other hand, focuses on identifying known vulnerabilities in software, hardware, and network configurations. This type of scanning often uses databases of known vulnerabilities, such as the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) list, to compare against the target system.

Web application scanning is specifically designed to identify security issues in web applications. This includes checking for vulnerabilities such as SQL injection, cross-site scripting (XSS), and cross-site request forgery (CSRF). Scanning can be performed from the outside (external scanning) or from within the network (internal scanning), depending on the scope and objectives of the assessment.

The results of a scan are typically presented in a report that highlights the identified issues, their severity, and recommended remediation steps. Regular scanning is essential for maintaining a secure environment, as new vulnerabilities are discovered daily. However, it is important to note that scanning should be conducted ethically and legally, with proper authorization and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
