Singlesplit

Singlesplit is a term used primarily in fitness communities to describe a training schedule in which each workout focuses on a single muscle group, often spread over six days per week. The approach is a type of split routine and is typically presented as one muscle group per session rather than combining multiple areas in the same workout.

In practice, a typical singlesplit allocates one day to each major muscle group (for example: chest, back, shoulders, arms, legs, core), with sessions spaced to allow recovery between workouts for the targeted area. Proponents argue that this format maximizes workout focus and allows higher training frequency for each muscle group, while opponents note that total weekly volume and recovery are more influential for results than the specific split.

Variants of the singlesplit vary by individual goals, experience, and schedule. Some routines use six days per week, while others adapt to five or seven days with slight adjustments. The term is sometimes used interchangeably with “one-muscle-per-day” splits or described as a colloquial or informal label, rather than a rigid, standardized method.

Effectiveness for strength and hypertrophy depends on overall program design, including total weekly volume, intensity, and recovery. Critics point out that singlesplits may be less time-efficient for some trainees and may not suit those who prefer full-body or two- or three-day-per-week training structures.
