Siipikompressorit, also known as vane compressors, are a type of positive displacement machine used to compress gases. They operate by using a rotor with multiple slots that contain sliding vanes. As the rotor spins within a cylindrical casing, centrifugal force pushes the vanes outward, creating a seal against the casing wall. The space between the rotor, vanes, and casing is divided into chambers of varying volume. Gas enters the largest chamber as it forms and is trapped as the rotor continues to turn. The subsequent rotation reduces the volume of these chambers, compressing the gas and forcing it out through an exhaust port.
