Shtatzënive

Shtatzënive is a term used in some Albanian dialects to refer to pregnancy. It is a state of a woman's body where she carries a developing baby within her uterus. This process typically lasts around 40 weeks, counted from the first day of the woman's last menstrual period. During pregnancy, significant physiological and hormonal changes occur to support the growth and development of the fetus. These changes can manifest in various ways, including morning sickness, fatigue, and changes in appetite. The medical term for pregnancy is gravidity.

The onset of pregnancy is usually confirmed through a pregnancy test, which detects the presence of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in the urine or blood. Regular prenatal care is crucial throughout the pregnancy to monitor the health of both the mother and the baby. This typically involves a series of doctor's appointments, ultrasounds, and blood tests. The stages of pregnancy are often divided into three trimesters, with distinct developmental milestones occurring in each. The culmination of a full-term pregnancy is childbirth, the process by which the baby is born.
