Sensoritelt

Sensoritelt is a term used to describe a modular sensor envelope embedded in portable shelters and tents to enable distributed sensing in field conditions. The concept combines flexible electronics, textile sensors, and wireless communication to monitor environmental and physiological signals within a shelter or temporary structure.

Technically, sensoritelt integrates textile-based sensors, flexible printed circuits, and low-power microcontrollers. Sensing capabilities commonly include temperature, humidity, air quality, light, pressure, motion, and structural strain. Power is supplied by compact solar panels or energy harvesting, with data transmitted over a wireless mesh or Bluetooth Low Energy network and stored locally or in the cloud.

Applications span disaster response shelters, military and humanitarian field operations, ecological and agricultural research, and comfort monitoring in temporary housing. Sensoritelt can provide continuous situational awareness, early warning for environmental hazards, and data to optimize shelter design and resource use.

Development considerations include durability, washability when integrated into fabrics, interoperability standards, data privacy, and cost. Technical challenges involve sensor drift, calibration in harsh environments, and maintaining reliable connectivity in remote areas. Field deployments often employ modular sensor nodes and self-healing networks to maximize resilience.
