Seligers

Seligers refers to a group of young Russians who participated in a summer camp organized by the pro-Kremlin youth movement Nash (Our). The camp was held annually on Lake Seliger and attracted thousands of participants aged from teenagers to young adults. Seligers was known for its patriotic themes, including lectures on Russian history, government ideology, and military training exercises.

The camp often featured prominent Russian politicians and government officials, including President Vladimir Putin, who made frequent visits. These appearances were widely publicized and seen as a way to foster a sense of national pride and loyalty among the youth. Critics, however, viewed Seligers as a propaganda tool designed to indoctrinate young people with pro-government views and discourage dissent.

The activities at Seligers were diverse, ranging from political discussions and workshops to sports, cultural events, and volunteer work. The camp aimed to create a sense of community and shared purpose among its participants, emphasizing their role in the future of Russia. The organization Nash, which ran Seligers, was dissolved in 2012 and its functions were largely absorbed by other pro-government youth groups. The Seligers camp itself ceased to be held in its original format after this period.
