Seldinga

Seldinga is a municipal town in the Veridia region, situated on the Seld River in the northern lowlands. It serves as the administrative center of Seldinga Municipality. The town lies about 60 kilometers inland from the Veridian Sea and is connected by a regional rail line and a network of highways.

The area is characterized by a temperate climate with mild summers and cool winters, fertile cropland, and patches of deciduous forest. The Seld River provides irrigation and recreational opportunities.

The first written record of Seldinga dates to 1642. It developed around water-powered mills and agricultural markets. The arrival of the railway in 1898 accelerated growth, while post-industrial reforms in the late 20th century shifted the economy toward diversified services and light manufacturing.

The local economy centers on agriculture (grain, dairy, vegetables), small manufacturing, and tourism. Public services and education employ a significant share of residents. The town hosts a regional market in late spring.

The population is predominantly ethnic Veridians with minorities from neighboring regions. Veridian and Seldingu dialects are spoken alongside standard Veridian. Annual cultural events include the Harvest Festival and the Riverfront Market.

Notable sites include the Old Mill, Seldinga Town Hall, Riverside Park, and the nearby Seldinga Heritage Trail. Governance is provided by a mayor-council government within the framework of Veridia’s regional administration.

Public education runs from primary through high school. The town is served by regional buses and a rail station; the nearest airport is 45 kilometers away.
