Sedáky

Sedáky are a type of traditional cushion or seat pad originating from Central and Eastern Europe. Historically, they were commonly found in rural homes, particularly in Czech and Slovak cultures, though similar items exist in other Slavic regions. These cushions were typically handmade and often featured decorative embroidery or woven patterns, reflecting folk art traditions.

The primary purpose of a sedák was to provide comfort and warmth when sitting on hard surfaces such as wooden benches, stools, or floors. They could be filled with various materials like straw, feathers, wool, or cotton batting. The outer fabric was usually durable linen, hemp, or cotton, chosen for its longevity.
