Schnauzer

The Schnauzer is a German dog breed developed as a versatile farm dog for vermin control, guarding, and messenger duties. It exists in three size varieties: Miniature, Standard, and Giant. All share a wiry double coat, a distinctive beard and eyebrows, and a compact, sturdy build. Coat colors vary by size, with common options including salt and pepper, black, and black and silver; some individuals are solid black.

Schnauzers are intelligent, alert, and confident. They tend to be loyal and protective with families and can be good watchdogs. They require early training and socialization to manage their independent streak. They are generally good with children when raised together or properly supervised, and they can adapt to various living situations with adequate exercise.

Care and exercise: The wiry coat requires regular grooming; many owners hand-strip or clip every few months, with weekly brushing and routine facial hair maintenance. They need daily physical activity and mental stimulation, and they respond well to structured training.

Health and lifespan: Lifespan is roughly 12-14 years for Miniature and Standard, slightly shorter for Giant. Potential inherited issues include hip dysplasia in larger varieties and various eye disorders; responsible breeding and routine veterinary care help manage these risks.
